Is the $15 fee unavoidable?

We gotta make our money somehow :devil: , but you know is nothing new really i hear this quite often why aint esn changes free?, why dont i get a free phone?, whats free? free pouch? free case? free charger? free memory card? wheres the free month? how come you charge to pay bill? why i cant use debit/credit card to pay my bill? why you charge to programm my phone? buy one get one free ? free rate plan change? transfer my contacts to another phone for free? n blah blah blah why aint it free free free this free that LOL gets on my nerves
 
Everything costs money. The motive to this is that Cricket is in it for the money. The Cricket dealers have to make a living too. The margins are very thin in this business. It is a lot of fun to be in, that's for sure but don't come into it looking to get a million dollars unless you start out with two million dollars.

Just pay the $15 and get on with your life. Every carrier charges this fee.
 
true dealers only make chump change people ask me the same questions weres the free phone or does that $10 used beat up fone come with a charger ..... but I dont mind hooking ppl up somethimes tho
 
Quit being cheap, pay the $15 bucks. Hell I have been unemployed, and I don't mind making the $15 dollar ESN swap charge. Its stated in the Regs of the Company and all over the Cricket Wireless stores.
 
Yeah same here but only with people that are regular customers ill throw a freebie every once in a while, not random guys walkin by
 
US Cellular used to charge something like $20 or $25 to change a ESN. They would waive the fee if you got the phone from them though. (Dont know if they still do, but this was back in like 2001-2003, right before they switched to CDMA)
 
Ok, at this point I wouldn't mind paying the fee. Everytime I call the 611 nuraber, the network is down. This has been going on for the past 12 hours. I guess I'm just impatient.


I don't give a crap about $15. I'm more concerned about how they justify charging $15 to punch in about 15 digits in a computer. I'm only 34 yo but I still think that is highway robbery.
 
I guess the main reason they do this is just to stop people swapping their ESNs / MEID's all the time.
I agree that the swap is a 30 second job, but I know my local Cricket store does not waive this fee - threaten to cancel and they just might waive it for you - maybe, perhaps, with a manager in a good mood - but why be cheap?
You want the service, you know how much it costs up front, so pay it!
 
it is part of the cost structure on cricket. deal with it, or make very good frienRAB with a dealer. you get cheap per minute service, but they charge a little for some other things. that other carriers may do for free... this is one thing to be said for the insurance is that the deductible includes that $15 already. agreed this kinda messes things up for people that change their phone multiple times a month...

btw my upgrade fee on t-mobile was $18!!! and i just had to switch the sim card... now that's a load of BS if you ask me...
 
Of course I'll pay the $15. What choice do I have. I knew that would be the cost up front. I just thought when I called a nuraber, it would happen right then, especially since I was paying $15 for a monkey to push a button.
 
monkeys?? haha that made me laugh a little bit, but we're just doing our job, if you're that upset about a 15 esn change fee, switch, and then repost about how much money your losing out on every single month compared to when you had your cricket service...you knew the fees right up front when you signed up for the service and if you didn't then you knew where to find out whether or not there was a fee...when you go to the dmv do they charge you a fee to switch plates from one car to the other even though you smashed your first one @ no fault of your own?? sure do! warranty replacements provided by cricket don't have an esn change fee...warranty replacement fee? yup, but you knew that fee up front too... inx replacments don't have an esn change fee either, dedu? yep, but you knew about that too...does verizon let you bring your own phone from another provider over to them?? didn't think so...how about us cellular?? no go there either...suck it up, pay the fee, and get on with your life, or take advantage of the fact that we won't lock you into a contract, switch to another provider, waste your money, cancel in your 30 day trial period, and we'll be glad to charge you another activation fee and first month of service up front...either way 15 big ones
 
go to a dealer and pay him the $15 he do it while you wait and program the phone for you. The way I see it is unlimited calling for under $50 a month, let them keep money anyway they can to keep the monthly cost down. Every carrier chargers the fee.
 
Which they finally got rid of in Deceraber, but some phone prices increased more than $18 right away.

For example,

Nokia 5310 2 Yr Upgrade Price:

$0.00
$18.00 Upg Fee.

Total Cost: $18 + Tax

NOW

Its $19.99 + $0 Upg. Fee.

Total Cost: $20 + Tax.

But people are happy they dont need to pay a upgrade fee now! lol
