Is 'supernatural' mostly used as a synonym for 'fantasy' in a religious context?

In other words, 'supernatural' and 'fantasy' are labels that refer to any religious claims unsupported by evidence.

If there's a difference, how can a supernatural reality be distinguished from a supernatural fantasy?
If somebody claims something is supernatural and real, how can we know it's not a fantasy?
