Is Superchips on a 99 dodge ram 1500 5.2L a good thing?

I just bought a 99 doge ram 5.2L 2 wheel drive and it came with a superchips tuner. Should i even consider using it. Will it give me better gas mileage and better ride quality or tear the engine up. It already has 171,000 miles on it.

tuners are used for more power and performance,it wont make it ride any better,and probably wont help out on gas mileage either,you may see a gain in horse power though,it wont hurt it none though,at that mileage id be checking to make sure the timing chain and gears are good in it they usually don't last that long in those trucks,good luck
