Is spontaneous sex among gay people as popular as the media portrays it to be?

Spontaneous sex meaning that there was no much thought/planning into having sex before doing it.
I'm 19 and never dated a guy....I hope I will soon though perhaps.
Sorry if this question is a little dumb.
 
It's a little dumb.. but you're just curious I guess, and Yes, I think it happens a lot more than straight people. Not sure why, but to me, it just seems that way. Look at craigslist personal ads.. the m4m or w4w then look for m4w or w4m... not much about hook up for sex/bj's or anything but like relationships.
 
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret....
the media is usually never right.
It's media, and even though it portrays an image that SEEMS popular it's usually completely untrue.
Like, since when has Ashley Simpson ever actually had bad acne?
 
Not in my experience. There is a certain subculture of the gay community which engages in heavy partying, extensive drug use and anonymous sex, but it's just a small subculture. (Most of us gay guys are your average accountant, civil servant, librarian, non-profit employee, etc. Just regular guys with regular lives. But we're not terribly exciting to read about - not nearly so exciting as rampant, spontaneous sex is!)
 
While I would like to say it isn't its been my sad experience in finding out men are driven by hormones for the most part gay or otherwise so when you get two guys it just cuts out the romantic dinner and any other things they would need to do with a girl and usually results in nothing but sex. Usually the only planning that goes into it is where and how they can avoid being caught by significant others. If you want proof of this go to a dating site and find a gay man interested in a life long relationship ... besides me and four other people its nearly impossible.
