I just bought a betta fish last week. Last night I noticed that the bowl was covered with tiny bubbles. I did some research. It said that my betta is happy and ready to mate. I'm confused, I don't know if I should breed or not? If I choose to breed what I'm I going to do with all the 100's of babies that might hatch. Please help? Is there anybody out there that has done the betta breeding?

If your an experienced fish breeder and have all the information you need for breeding bettas, go for it. If not, you probably shouldn't. If you do decide to breed you can give some of the adult fry to a pet store or give to family or friends.

i wouldnt. my sister breed her betta once and it didnt turn out so well because we couldnt find a store to sell them too. put if you want to find one i would depending on if you have the time. i would get a breeder kit from the store though. it will catch the eggs so you can change the tank their in so the parents dont hurt the eggs.

You don't have to breed fish.. it's instinct, not that he's "happy".

He doesn't need to mate to be "happy".

What he DOES need is you to get rid of his bowl, and get him a proper filtered, heated tank.

Please read and learn, if you do decide. Don't rely on yahoo answers such as the one above me.. the Dad HAS to be able to reach the eggs, otherwise they'll die. He tends to the nest until the babies are free-swimming.

Well easy. With the hundreds of underling you simply sell them to a pet store for a bit more than a buck each. The profit is good and it's a fun hobby.
