Is Space Exploration to be Credited for many adavances of our civilization?

I ask this now after having just read a Resolved Question asking about why study Space? It was the answers about "spinoffs" from space exploration that this question comes from. Surely, If the study of Space & Space Exploration were responsible for the creation of many things which benefit us all, then the negative aspect must also be true. If so, (if you can still follow my reasoning) that MUST Mean also, that Space Exploration is Responsible for much of the Earth's problems! If you disagree, I would be amused to read how you can Credit, without taking Responsibility??
