Is Sherman Oakes a good base for sightseeing in Los Angeles?

We plan on renting a car but are unsure of driving times from the hotel in Sherman Oakes to the sights we want to see. Mapquest can give distance but distance and driving in traffic are two different things. Any help from someone familiar with the area who has actually driven there is appreciated.

We plan on visiting Hollywood (the cliche sights), Santa Monica, the Burbank studios, maybe Disneyland...

I don't need a critique of where I want to visit, I've done my research I know what people think, I just want advice on where I plan to stay and the times I am going to spend driving to places I want to see.
