Ketchup, mustard, and salsa are all condiments that are always eaten with other things, but are they, by themselves considered a food.

Definition of food:
any nourishing substance that is eaten, drunk, or otherwise taken into the body to sustain life, provide energy, promote growth, etc.

Definition of condiment:
something used to give a special flavor to food, as mustard, ketchup, salt, or spices.

So is stuff that you put on stuff considered food or is it the stuff with the stuff on it that's considered a food.

authentic salsa is pretty much diced tomatoes, cilantro and a couple other small little things {that i honestly can't recall right now, hehe} I can eat salsa by itself. :)

is relish a condiment or food? << just wondering. hehe {dont actually answer it}
