I decided to start training for the royal marines two days ago and thought it would be a good idea to run with a weighted backpack. After running (2 miles to begin with) i got home and my back ached a little and it still does today. Im only 15 and my backpack weighed about 9kg/20 pounds. I don't want to get injured but i know you have to run in the royal marines for 9 miles at one stage with 31 pounds of kit. How much should i train with? And will carrying the extra weight benefit me at all?
Next time im going to drop the weight by a third and then add it back after a while and build on from there. Is that a good idea?
