I am thinking of having a go at replacing the water pump on the ford cougar, I am not too sure on where it is on my car, any help would be appreciated!

big job, it is behind the timing belt cover, you should also change the timing belt and tensioner when doing this job.

Its a pretty big job. You can't see it from outside the engine, and its tight to get at because of the little room between the front of the engine and the inner fender. You may as well replace the timing belt and idler pulley while you're at it so the job isn't done twice. If you have limited tools and experince regarding this motor, I would take it to a mechanic. Good luck!
