is religion related to the outdoors?

i'm wondering becuase when i see the world, like the grand caynon and all that, I am just amazed and blown away. But I am wondering if the concentration of athetist are in the city and maybe the lack of nature and appreacation for the natural beaty of the earth might be what leads people to believing there isn't a higher power.

Any thoughts?
