rap is just trash that any human can do if they know how to make words rhyme. i think the actually delivering of the words any one on this earth could do but i think writing may be a bit challenging.. and CRANK DAT SOULJA BOY is not a good rap song. anyone can repeat themselves 100 times during a song so why is everyone so nuts about that idiotic song.

some of it
others are just ignorant bxtches that brag about money and a whole bunch of other bull. Depends on which artist you listen to.

Although it IS spoken rhyme form, rap is a separate much more complex entity than freeform poetry.

It came from the Bronx as MC's would hype their DJ. Then they started doing corney rhymes and then it progressed into freestyling and rhyming over a beat.

Rap incorporates a number of different beats and is related to a type of drumming popular in West Africa. Latin poetry relied on rhythm rather than musicality and rap is a successor to Virgil. Lyric poetry with rhyme and musicality is a comparatively modern invention.

What do you mean by "accent"? Rap originated from so many different music genres and lifestyles that is impossible to accurately list them all. It's kind of like asking were did Rock come from, or Jazz, or Classical.....I think you understand where I'm going.

SIDEBAR: I think Rap INCORPORATES poetry, but i don't think Rap IS poetry.

Have you ever heard of Johnny Cash? OK, he's country, but you can't say he didn't rap. And contrary to what people may say about rap, Rage Against the Machine and Saliva are rap groups...not rock, rap. They might use rock music, but they rap.

Rapping came from Africa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapping#Roots
