is putting a 1JZ-GTE or a sr20det engine in a 1987 mazda rx7 hard?

Yes and no.

People do swap those engines in older RX-7's. It has been done many times before so they could fit, but there is a lot of work that goes into engine swapping.

The link below is a shop called JE Import Performance. They do engine swaps for the 87 RX-7. You could call or email them for pricing.

You could buy the engine from them too.

These are the engines that shop would swap in for you.

13 B turbo II, 13BREW, 1jZ-GTE, 2jZ-GTE, Rb25DET, Rb26DETT, KA24DE, SR20DET, and LS1.
 
i have a mazda rx7 that im considering it be my project car but i need to know whats the easyest engine to put in it the 1JZ-GTE or a sr20det?
