Is psychology a good pre-med major?

I'm currently in high school, but I'm interested in pursuing a career in medicine. I've done my fair share of research online and know that a specific major isn't required for a degree in medical school providing that you have taken the required courses. That being said I'm interested to know whether or not a degree pychology would benifit me as a medical doctor (not a mental health doctor) and provide me with an adequate educational background for medical school.
