The Duke Of Edinburgh has attacked parents who have many children:

By doing so is he also attacking the teachings of the church which states that christians 'should go forth and multiply'?

After all his wife is 'defender of the faith'?
Julie: Back to your history books!

Henry VIII was awarded the title 'Defender of the Faith' by the Pope after he wrote a pamphlet condemning Luther and his Protestant heresy.

However the Pope excommunicated him a couple of years later when Henry set up his own Church of England so that he could divorce his wife and marry his mistress!!

She's a Defender of the Anglican faith... Nobody in the Royal family has any duty towards Catholicism. Remember, it's still banned for a Royal to marry a Catholic and remain in line to the British throne...

=)

The man is talking sense. Lots of people have criticised large families and it is nothing to do about religion, its to do with the high benefits this countries taxpayers have to pay to them. At the present count I think the poulation of this world has exceeded the christan doctrine by a mile. What is the point in mutyplying in very poor countries where children are suffering from starvation and malnutrition already. Is the catholic church going to feed them?

this has nothing to do with religion the same argument for Catholic fait about multiplying could be used for Islamic familes too!

this is simply a recognition that the world is overpopulated - why do you think food is getting more expensive . there are now more people than we can feed.

Large families are making this worse. that's the reason for this statement.

is it right to over populate and starve for your view on religious adherence or is it more right to moderate the population and have enough to eat!

That seems to be a rather paranoid reaction to what was actually said.

I was raised in the Catholic faith and know plenty of other Catholic families who only have one or two kids. Somehow I don't think that had anything to do with HRH!
