Depends on the class you take! There are some short online courses you can do and also some great books you can pick up at the local bookstore that will give you the info you need to be able to use your new camera and all its abilities. It's quick, easy and fun!
I personally took some classes at Florida Community College, and we had a great time. it was super basic camera knowledge. after that I bought the NYIP package which was really VERY awesome. and go at your own pace, shoot, and really find out where you are, and what you need to learn to progress to the next level, if you want to.
