I am a computer science student and like to try and learn new programming languages in my spare time if I have any(which is rare) I know some basic Perl and was wondering if you guys/gals would recommend becoming proficient in Perl and whether or not that knowing Perl is looked upon favorable in terms of the job market. I ask due to a comment made to me by my faculty adviser about Perl falling out of favor. I like what I have seen so far from the language especially the regex package but don't want to waste time on a language that isn't used

Thanks in advance

Its is a programming language its just interpreted instead of compiled. Learn what your talking about before you start posting.  That was for the idiot who has the wikipedia looking icon
