Do you have statistical proof that showering with someone of the same-sex will have any effect on you? Firstly, all the same policies in the military will be in place in regards to unwanted sexual advances. This will just apply to same sex people as well. If someone makes an advance at you, you will be able to report that to a superior. Israel and most other advanced nations in the world allow openly gay people in the military with no problems. Secondly, there are gays in the military now, an estimated 65,000. It would be no different than what it is today. People will simply be able to live their life without fear of being kicked out.
It's not like gays are going to start running around announcing to everyone they are gay. They won't have to fear getting kicked out.
Lastly, are you that insecure in your own sexuality? If a gay person makes an advance at you, it will have no impact on your beyond making you feel uncomfortable and your ability to have them reprimanded for it. It's highly doubtful you will have any advances made towards you, and if you do that person should be punished.
If you don't want to know a person is gay, maybe we need a new don't ask don't tell policy where if a person's sexuality is known at all, gay or straight they get kicked out. That way it is fair.
You are in the minority. 75% of people in the U.S. have no problems with gays being openly gay in the military. Get educated and you will realize we are losing great men and women everyday as a result of them being outed. I remember hearing of an arabic translator recently being kicked out. That translator was a major asset to keeping America safe, but under this policy they were kicked out which PUTS THIS NATION AT RISK!
Get yourself educated on what this policy really entails and how important it is that it is repealed.
Bill H: You don't understand the concept of don't ask, don't tell. If a homosexual in the military does anything homosexual off duty or off the base, they can still be kicked out of the military.
