Is Obama the most radical left-wing liberal candidate in US history?

LIES, DISTRACTIONS and SCARE TACTICS.

Obama is an American capitalist whose healthcare plan was to the right of Clinton's.

Don't you expect people to read truth?

We have never, ever had a major party nominee propose wealth and income redistribution before. That is a staple of British politics: social welfare, The Welfare State, Socialism. No Democrat has EVER dared to go near European socialistic principles before. Not even McGovern. Combine this with the fact that Obama would be our first Protectionist president since Herbert Hoover - you know, the one during the Great Depression that Biden mistook for FDR? - and I fear Obama wants to usher in an American welfare state. And I am seriously scared that no Obama supporters seem to understand this. You all seem to think this is a bunch of Republican spin or something. Go to Obama's website! It's right there for all the world to see! Watch his interviews... all confirmed independently!

Do you people understand what it's like to try and start a small business in France? Do you know what the tax rate is in the UK? Do you have any idea how socialized medicine actually works, even in Canada? Do you really understand who you're electing, and just how different he is from Al Gore or the Clintons?

Yes, the bailout is socialism plus. But I argue that's trying to stave off a depression. What good will helping the poor do anyone? Not the middle class, who'll end up paying most of that bill. So I ask again, what possible good is there in giving free money to welfare leechers?

I dare one Democrat, one Obama supporter, to come up with a good reason for converting America into a welfare society. I'm tired of hearing "Republicans must pay in blood!" and "The corporations must pay!". The corporations never pay. They'll just leave. Our economy is in critical condition, so explain to me how raising taxes is going to help. Just explain to me that you understand and accept Barack Obama's economic theory, like the warning label on the cigarette pack.
I am not referring to the old "bigger government" talking point, and I even feel that universal healthcare is a good thing (if done right). Medicare and Soc. Sec. are both very important. The socialist tenet that horrifies me is the wealth redistribution. You don't give money away to people who haven't earned it, not in this country. You don't steal from the rich just to give to the poor. It helps no one, and it is morally offensive to me.
Props to the poster who just evoked Huey Long and Share the Wealth. :)

The communist were right when they said they would take over without firing a shot! They have finally gotten one of their own in position to be elected President by the FOOLS in this country.

No.

Have any of you knee-jerk conservatives who don't know what the hell socialism, communism, facism or a nanny state REALLY is ever heard of Ralph Nader? You know, the guy you loved to ridicule heavily a few years ago...

you=awesome
i agree with you i HATE welfare why should WE have to pay for someone? and if obama is elected and i had a company i would leave heck just as a normal citizen i would want to leave if obama got the nomination

I'm unable to figure out which of Obama's policies you object to as socialist vs those of Bush or McCain or Reagan or Nixon or Eisenhower or Hoover which you consider capitalist which Obama supports and you oppose.

For example, Reagan greatly expanded Social Security and placed it on sound financial footing for decades to come, and thanks to Reagan's efforts, millions of those boomers who voted for Reagan aren't faced with poverty as a result of the meltdown in stocks and bonds and their real estate which would deplete their retirement savings.

Hoover and Nixon proposed universal healthcare.

Lincoln, Hoover, Eisenhower, Nixon, and Bush to list a few Republicans, proposed massive government investments in infrastructure, in part to provide jobs, but primarily to move the nation into a new era of economic growth.

I don't see how Obama is any more socialist than your typical Republican president.

Actually, Adlai Stevenson was the most left wing liberal candidate in U.S. history, followed by Franklin Roosevelt (who was elected with more than 80% of the electoral college FOUR times).

I am a socialist. Senator Obama is not.

The bail-out measure is not socialism. It is a care package to the banks. It will not help the people; foreclosures will continue. You can bet on it. And the banks will have their profit.

Obama would not dare propose a socialist share-the-wealth solution because he knows that the people of the United States will not support it.

This is not wealth distribution. This keeps the fat cats rich. Foreclosures will not stop for a moment as a result of this legislation.

By the way, this whole thing that is going on helps me immensely. I have no debt. I own my home with no mortgage. I have cash. I am going to make a lot of money off this meltdown. The American people just got royally screwed, and I am going to make a killing.

Thanks everyone for making this socialist a lot richer! I'll gladly pay the taxes on the money all you capitalists gave me this week...
