Is Obama a hypocrite for not opposing the undemocratic coup in Iran, but complaining...

...about Honduras ala Chavez?
I love how leftist idealists suddenly grow "practical" when their beloved leaders fail the basic test of human decency. Whatever happened to human rights? It wasn't a coup in Iran? I guess you missed Neda being killed on the street and a puny dictator stealing the election...it's ok...so did Obama.

1) There wasn't a coup in Iran. The same person who was President three weeks ago is still President. What happened in Iran was an election in which the folks running it probably stuffed the ballot box. (We can only say probably because Iran doesn't allow observers so we are trying to guesstimate from past results.)

On the other hand, there was a coup in Honduras.

2) Obama has spoken out against both of them.

3) Because the government in Iran is hostile to us and we already have extensive sanctions against them, there is very little that we can do to persuade Iran to do the right thing. On the other hand, the government in Honduras is somewhat dependent on U.S. assistance, so we have some tools that we can use to convince them to comply with their own rules.
