Given the economy, the bottom looking like it is near on Wall St. and the hope for the auto industry in general...is now the time to purchase shares of this American icon?

I suggest you stay away from the auto industry for now, any of the car companies can fail tomorrow or in the near future. The Adam said there are safer companies to invest in- whose stock are just as cheap only because the market brought down the price, not because the companies are worth any less.

No, it isn't - the need for more funding, coupled with the fact that the bottom on Wall Street may not be as certain as you think, makes this a risky venture. It looks cheap, but there's the potential to lose it all. There are many other battered businesses that are in a much better position (and have much more value) where you can put your $$. It may be an American icon, but if Ford declares bankruptcy in order to restructure their business (which is a likely scenario) shareholders will be the first to lose their money.

hell no they gonna go belly up here in a minute after they get the next big round of cash from obama its splitsville for ford
