Is "news' ratings" correct or should it be "news ratings" ? Can you explain why?

I understand the difference between moving the apostrophe from in front of the s to after it (possession vs. plural possession) but I'm not sure if "news' ratings" is correct.

In a sense the "news rating" is a rating which belong to the news, isn't it? Sure, you need to personify the news to make it work, but ... does this make any sense?
