I have right leg chronic pain right now after herniated disc which happened in 10 months ago, I like to know if I want to concern about surgery sometimes late, should I need to concern Neurosurgery first because they have more experience with nervous system than Orthopedist?

Thanks!

well make sure your spine surgeon is fellowship trained and he will have a neurosureon there when performing the surgery thats how mine went.

I think you mean if a Orthopedist is performing the surgery, he will have a
neurosurgeon there to help him/her ?

Thanks!

I have been working with an Ortho, and he will be doing my surgery along with a neuro surgeon. As long as there is a Neuro present at surgery it doesn't matter.

Also, even though I have sciatic pain, my MRI doesn't show any nerve impingement. When I went to see a Neuro for a second opinion, he didn't give me the time of day because of this. So I don't like Neuro's.

I still have this question. I feel most people like to pick up Neuro before Orth
because they think Neuro is more familiar with nervous system
and micro surgery than Orth.
