When I first got my family of rats a week ago. A momma named Tessa 1 years old, her baby boy named Reznor 1 1/2 months old (not neutered), and his father Master Splinter 1 year old (not neutered). Well the first day they arrived I let them settle into there own homes and get used to there surroundings. The second day they all seemed calm and I gently took them all out of their cages and played with them for a while. Everything was great until day three when I attempted to take Master Splinter out of his cage. As I reached for him, and not too quickly cause i didn't want to scare him, he quickly and painfully bit me, it drew blood. From that day every time something goes near the cage he lunges at it or if i open the door to his cage he runs away into his hiding house looking ready to bite if i get too close. He'll take treats from me but very forcefully and quickly runs away. If I open his cage door and stand there with it open he pushes all his bedding and toys and food bowls toward the door as if to barricade the door. He's also been fighting more with the baby and going after the mom when I let her out of her cage. Could I train him to like me more and be more calm and stop biting? Or is this so bad I should get him neutered? Some articles I read on the web said I should consider euthanasia but that seems extremely unnecessary. Thank you.
Sorry for all that info hope it wasn't too much haha
