i have a molly fish that has been pregnant for a while and i think it might be giving birth. what happens when a molly is about to/starting to give birth?
i dont know i dont own any fish i use to have this goldfish called goldy that i won in a school carnival but i couldnt keep him bcuz i had cats so i gave goldy to my bff and he died the next day so my friends dad flushed him down the toilet!
Super fat bellies, and usually go to the bottom to give the little ones a chance at hiding -- before being eaten like popcorn by all the other fish (including mom, who forgets she just gave birth to them).
If you want to keep the babies, or more of them.. isolate her in another tank or screen/netting especially made for these magic moments.
k well i had a molly fish but i was asleep when it happened so ummmmm i not for sure but she will lay eggs and u will see tiny white invisible like fish swimming around and no ur molly mom wont eat her young but one they start growing up they will become darker and turn black and ps its really hard to clean the tank with all of them so good luck
They usually start pacing the tank up and down..stop eating..lay on the bottom..just keep an eye on her birth can take hours to get all the fry out..take the babies out of the tank when she has them..put them in a seperate tank and feed them very fine crushed up fish food..almost powder like..good luck!!
Mollies raised in a tank are usually very small. I'm told this is due to being raised in polluted water. You need to change the water frequently, and take appropriate steps to eliminate chlorine in the new water before you put the fish in. My fish-tanking days are long over, but I know pet stores sell chemicals for removing chlorine, and I've read that letting the water stand uncovered for 24 hours will let the chlorine evaporate. I'm not so sure about either of these things. I'd suggest getting some stuff from a swimming pool supply place to check the chlorine level. It isn't expensive.
