Is my half arm cast supposed to be soft?

it's a yellow fiberglass material with waterproof padding. I've had it since last Monday, but only the top ( where my fingers are ) and the bottom ( mid arm ) are firm. i have broken my growth plate in my wrist, and the top of my ulna closest to the wrist.. they're not protected because when i press down it starts hurting. it wasn't like this a few days ago, but since i have showered with it, it got loose and weak. is this okay? i have it for two more weeks
