my male made a bubble nest, pretty good, then after about 30 hours he hugged her, several eggs fell, he picked them up and went and spit something into the nest, they did the hug several times, about the fourth time only two eggs came out. we had to leave then and when we came home an hour later they didn't hug anymore, the thing is she still looks a little fat and has a white thing coming out of her oviposter, he chases her away from the nest but that's it, but then a couple minutes ago he went up into the nest and seemed to get something out of it then bite around the nest. please explain to me

He could be getting the infertile eggs out of the nest. For the most part, male bettas normally take care of the eggs/nest very well.
