I got a key scratch on my gray 2010 Hyundai Elantra. It wasn't a big scratch at all, but it went into the paint and being that this was a new car, I took it to the dealer to get it fixed. The mechanic over there used a mechanical buffer and polish to overlap the paint in order to cover the scratch. After about an hour or so of work, he got the scratch looking a little better, but it left an imperfection in my paint job in the area surrounding the scratch. The mechanic, who didn't charge me a dime for his services, told me- without me asking- that it was a burn mark and that it would eventually cool off and go away. My dad, who knows a lot about cars, said that it would take some time but it would go away after "a few weeks" or a "couple of months," but pretty much that all I could do from here is wait. After about two weeks, it hasn't shown any true signs of going away, though it is easier to see at some angles than at others. Am I just being paranoid and/or impatient? Or is my paint job permanently damaged? If so, how can I fix it?
