Is my beta fish sick or dying?

I don't have enough money to go to the vet or wherever you take fish, but for the past few months, she's been floating to the top of the fishbowl. I've seen her try to swim downward but it takes too much effort i guess, so she stays buoyant. She rarely eats like she used to (if she does eat I don't see her do it). It looks like her stomache part is squished in - i guess from not eating.

any ideas..comments..suggestions? would be greatly appreciated.

No buoyancy=Swim bladder disease and it comes from feeding fish dry foods such as pellets. You can try to feed her some peeled peas to help with this if the betta will eat them. If not...you fish won't make it. Try soaking the pellets first...then feed. This will take the air out of the pellets so they don't swell inside the betta.

well what have you been feeding it.and bettas should not be kept in bowls and that goes as well for all fish.they don't like it.maybe that is the problem.if it has been there all of her life then that's the problem.you need a bigger tank.lkke 2.5 gallon at least.try that if not then it can be sick.it can also have a swim bladeer.check out this site it is super helpful opn bettas diseases.

good luck.and have hope so that it won't die.
