Is mainstream music making the younger generation stupider?

I am talking about the lyrics in most mainstream music- meaningless. Now I know, techno/trance/instrumental has meaningless lyrics as well, but it has music, it has artsy music. The mainstream music nowadays has lost the touch of art. Nowadays, I have noticed a LOT of kids in the younger generation think if they can sing, they can become singers, sure you can, but they can't sing with emotion, they can't write their own lyrics, they can't sing serious songs. That means nowadays, anybody can become a mainstream singer. If that is true, nobody needs to work hard to become a singer, just get everyone's attention with either your ridiculous clothes or no clothes at all and you become a singer.
I have noticed, a lot of my younger friends listen to mainstream music, and they all "inspired" to sing songs that basically lack dept of thought and art, with catchy beats. The music is catchy, there is no new stuff in it, its all the same, *boom boom boom* and * tat tat* thats it.
Examples: Black Eyed Peas, Kesha, Lady GaGa(really?singing about poker and love games?), Ludacris, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Beyonce, Justin Beiber(oh hoh dont even get me started on that one),Miley Cyrus(.....)
(rihanna and beyonce are pop divas tho so they r a bit different, but their music is the same)
Analyze any of their songs, (except beyonce's "halo") n u get shitty meaning and repeating music in all of them
im not saying that the younger generation should stop listening to mainstream , im just saying if maybe more of the good music was played on the radio like in the old days of the Beatles, then maybe the younger generations wouldn't b so stupid (stupid also meaning u would rather go on fb and text than see ur friend in real life)(stupid also meaning u dont care about education)(stupid also meaning u r arrogant)
if u have any opposing views on this, i would like to hear them
XD its funny how u say i sound like im old
im actually a teenager and doing a journalistic essay on this thing- so i have thought about it a lot :)
