Is love dead? Is dating and romance an illusion?

Everyone I know has had affairs behind their bf/gf's backs. And the stereotype that men do it more is absolutely false. Women do it just as much as men. But back to the main point- are love and romance merely illusions fed to us by the media? One can enjoy the company of another person without sacrificing their all for them or being tied to them at the waist. None of the ideal or moralistic takes on love are on par with today's world. Cheaters, liars, breakups over stupid things, moving on only takes a few days now... I don't get it? It seems that it boils down to kissing, sex, and favors now. We have so many options that "love" is out of the picture.

What do you think, is love dead?
Oh I forgot- and even more common, people nowadays are totally okay with using someone for sexual gratification and then tucking tail and running once they've gotten off... men do it for sex (I get more vadge than you do bro) and women do it for a confidence boost (ohhh, I'm desirable again!).
