is lifting a jeep really worth the money?

Stock I can fit 31X10.5 inch tires on my jeep. If I put a three inch lift I can fit 33X12.5 inch tires on my jeep. I know having the wider tire will help when I need the extra traction and in soft sand. But is it really worth 2500 dollars plus to lift the jeep just to gain an extra 2 inches of ground clearance or is lifting mostly for looks? Thanks all in advance.

Depends on what you are looking for. If its to drive in the dunes in the sand then wider taller tire are a must. If you plan on driving around town then leave it alone. Its really your choice as only you know what your going to put your truck through. Is it your daily driver or weekend warrior or a straight off road basher. For any sort of off road driving bigger tires and a lift will increase the trucks capabilities.3 inch lift with 33 inch tire is a small lift. The tire size increase in width almost off sets the raising of the centre of gravity so drivablity will not be change that much.

Hope I helped and good luck

I'd look at your goals. A lift has benefits, and it has negatives. One is cost, another is raising your center of gravity that much higher. So if you want to cover rough road at greater speed, the higher center of gravity might cost you more than the larger tire gains you. this would be on trails where the pitch is severe, but the in-trail obstacles are lower. On a trail that is level, but has higher single wheel obstacles, you might appreciate the extra size in the tires.

I suspect most people do very little off roading, and mostly want to look good parked outside the dairy queen or coffee shop.
