its japanese, in japan lexus' are called toyota for example the 98 gs300 is called the toyota aristo in japan. they call it lexus over because it they want a line of luxury cars, not just everyday cars. so toyota are just ordinary everyday cars while the lexus's are meant to be luxury cars.
