When a new factory or firm or project is built or undertaken, people often say one of the benefits is new jobs. But aren't these new jobs a cost, one of the inputs required to run the factory to produce whatever good? Isn't labor just another cost? Should new jobs be considered a benefit or cost in such projects? Can someon explain the sides to this argument?
