Is it worth repairing a car if the repair cost is half of the resell value?

If Blue Book says my car sells for $1200-1500, and each time I get it repaired costs $300-$1000, is it worth continually repairing?

When should I stop repairing it and get another used car?
I suppose any used car I buy is going to require repairs, too, though, so that's part of the cost of buying a different one and it really comes down to which car will require less repairs.

I know how to repair things myself, but I don't have the tools or workspace or time or assistance to do it.

i bought my car for $1900 and have put $3400 in it. It runs perfectly now and i love it.

not unless you really like the car a lot its really not worth spending that much on it,it may be time to get another vehicle,if something else goes wrong with this one you will have more in it than you can get out of it,its up to you though if you like the vehicle and want to keep it then its your money ,if it were me i think id be looking for another vehicle, good luck

Well it depends on your circumstances. If you cannot afford to pay the repayments on a better car then you have no real choice other than to keep repairing it (or use public transport). I do a lot of repairs myself and you may well be better off learning to fix your car yourself rather than pay someone else to do it. However, if that is beyond you then I would say that when your car is a financial right off ( as your car clearly is) its time to ditch it.
