I have a 10 speed that is about 25 years old. It needs new tires and brakes. Should I get it fixed or just sell it for cheap on Craigslist and buy a new one? It's a Schwinn. I always loved riding it.
well,
if u want to buy a new bike u should. but if the cost of repairing is less than the cost of buying a new one then u should,of course, repair the old one.
since u love ur old bike so much u should rather use that one.
but since ur bike is 25 years old,it will keep giving u problems
on the other hand a new bike will b more consistent and will last much longer.
Well I married my dream girl
I married my dream girl
But she didn't tell me her credit was bad
So now instead of living in a pleasant suburb
We're living in the basement at her mom and dad's.
No we can't get a loan
For a respectable home
Just because my girl defaulted on an old credit card
If we'd gone to free credit report dot com
I'd be a happy bachelor with a dog and a yard.
wow it sounds like a pretty nice bike. You could probably fix it and then sell it for more and then get a new one, or you could keep it. I dont think it costs that much to get brakes, and they're pretty easy to do yourself.
I guess it just comes down to would you rather ride that one, or the one in the store? You're the one riding the bike.
If you have always loved riding it, then yes get it fixed. If you have been wanting a new bike then go ahead and sell the old one. 10 speeds dont come cheap depending on which model you choose, may be wise just to fix up the old one.
I'm just going to guess that the Tyre's are actually fine and its the inner tubes that are gone. Replacing inner tubes is mega cheap, and fixing them with a puncture repair kit is cheaper.
You don't need to replace the breaks, just replace the break pads.
Pump up your tyres, oil your chain, adjust your saddle, bike as good as new!
I have gone to the tip and picked up bikes for £5 which i have managed to fix-up with a puncture repair kit , a spoke key, a spanner and a pump.
