Is it weird to not be "proud" of your nationality?

It's not that I don't like where I come from, but its just, I acknowledge I'm from somewhere and accept it. I'm not proud of where I come from, it's a country, there are people who are from that country have done things, well good for them. Well what I'm basically saying is I don't see why I should be proud of something I have made no contribution to- aren't we all supposed to be the same? So why should I care if someone who I've never met did something 100 years ago, and be proud of that just because they came from the same country? I'm not proud of being born somewhere, it's just where I was born. I didn't CHOOSE it, if you get what I mean.

Sorry for the mini-rant haha. I was just wondering, is there anyone else like me? All my friends are very patriotic and very into the whole racial-pride thing, and just don't get my point of view at all.

I totally see your point of view, and don't worry, its not abnormal to not be proud of your nationality. I personally, do not hold pride in my nationality, nor do i hold pride in certain parts of my racial background. and also, don't worry about ranting on, because you just were stating a point, and you made it clear.

I'm proud of the country I came from, but not on an excessive level.
I don't think you're abnormal, in the way you think like that.
