Is it weird to ask a girl out, out of nowhere?

So, I see this girl at school almost every day, and she's kinda cute so I want to ask her out. But I don't want to seem creepy. I think she talked to me once at the beginning of the school year, but that was it and it was a long time ago. She probably doesn't remember me.

I think it would be weird for it to come out of nowhere, don't you? Also this is the last week before finals so I need to do it tomorrow or Friday.

I was thinking of asking her if she wanted to go for coffee or something. I don't know.

Every girl I've asked out or dated I knew before hand, so this is totally out of my area of knowledge and my comfort zone. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

yea, you might wanna get to know her a little better before you ask her out, since it's been so long ago...otherwise, besides you feeling uncomfortable, she will feel uncomfortable too.
