is it weird playing sport AGAINST a friend or school team mate?

for example i recently joined a volleyball club which plays against the volleyball club that a team mate on my high school team is on. i got to know her and found out she played for state league and now i might be playing against her in a match. we were so used to working together for points, now we will be trying to smack each other off the court. will it be weird?
 
I dont think it will be. I played club soccer and I played against some girls in my class. I played against some girls that I had been on teams with before and it wasnt weird to me. Atleast in volleyball you have the net between you. Just dont take anything personally. If they happen to score a point on you dont think they are suddenly against you and not your friend. Its just apart of the sport.
