Is it true that if you pull out a white hair, more will come out?

Im 18 and i already have white hairs on my head, its embarrassing. I have a lot of hair, not long but alot and when i was younger i thought it was because i had so much hair that i ran out of ink/color. My family and friends always said that if i have a white hair never pull it out because more come out, is that true?
