Is it true that if GM gets this big bailout, people are going to boycott their cars?

I was speaking to someone at work, who told me that if the government bails out GM, she will NEVER buy another american made car...She feels that the united states is bailing out these dreadful unions, and not the companies themselves...after all, the unions broiught down the companies with their insane demands...

I thought she was crazy until i over heard more people saying the very same thing!
So what do ya'll think? will you stop buying american cars if this bailout goes through?
JOSHUA- They dont make 28 dollars! thats the problem! orers are making 70 dollars an hour and benefits, which is more than me, who has a masters!
I really don't have much of an opinion on this, and i'm not planning on getting a new car anytime soon anyways, so im not losing sleep over this, i was just curious to know what you all think about this
 
I would stop voting for the people in the government who are actually borrowing money they don't have and increasing our national debt . in fact they should be immediately kicked out of office.

The auto companies should go straight to the oil companies and borrow the 25 billion from them. After all their interests are the same aren't they.

The government wants to get involved to gain control and nationalize another industry....and they're willing to rob us to do it.

Apparently, the boycott is already in effect and has been for some time - otherwise, GM wouldn't need a bailout.
As far as boycotting them if WE bail them out with OUR money - that would make no sense what so ever.

Nobody has said anything about a "bailout". The executives are asking for a loan. Do you know the difference between a bailout and a loan?

Furthermore, why aren't you screaming about taxpayers subsidizing the huge golden parachutes we are underwriting for executives, while they hemorrhage thousands of workers!? Why do you love bankers but hate working Americans.
 
They don't need to boycott them; no one's buying these crappy cars in the first place.

I'm buying Japanese or German to the end. Sorry all you "Buy American", "Don't buy cars from countries that hate us" chanting losers. . . But I don't have the nerve or time in my day to have to take my American made Ford to the dealership for repairs every 3 weeks. And once the warranty's up, I'm left with a car that's junkyard ready.
 
I think anyone how does that is foolish. Do they really think that an auto industry failure won't come back to bite them? And I kind of wonder about people complaining about blue collar workers who make decent wages. You'd kinda think that those Wall Street crooks who make hundreds of millions for running our banks into the ground would be more blameworthy than some guy who makes $28 an hour.
 
this is the last union made american car I will buy. I am done supporting lazy union thugs.
 
The reason people will not buy their cars is because they won't be able to afford to buy any cars, though some people who were not going to buy cars anyway will claim it is because they are boycotting.

Tell me about the "dreadful unions" and their "insane demands", I'd like to hear that part.
