Is it too late in summer to grow pansies from seed outdoors? How about indoors?

You don't say where you live but if you get first frost in early Oct. I'd say it is probably too late to start them now. I would wait until late winter/very early spring and start them indoors so you can be ready to plant them outside even before the first frost. Pansies can take some pretty cold weather. Here in central TX. we grow them only in winter. Our summers are much too hot for them.
