Is it safe to use 15-50 oil

It amazes me that people spend $15,000 to $25,000 on a motorcycle, have the dealers do services for $100s and buy $$$$ motor oil and then only ride less than 2500 miles a year.
Here is where "What's up with that" should be said.

Good point. Some of my friends use the most expensive "boutique" oil you can buy, extol the virtues of that product, then ride 10k miles between trades. They could use olive oil and probably not know the difference in a durability test of that duration.

I love my 07 and have her running perfect using the basic mods I've learned here. Running M1 15/50 in the engine and M1 75-140 gear oil in the Trans.

Oil cooler helps keep the engine running at the 200 - 210 mark even on the hot days here in New England, I'm hoping the M1 gear lube in the tranny keeps the bearing failures away.. although that may be something that just happens.. I dunno.

But good lubrication and a cool running engine don't hurt.

LIke i said earlier.. i changed mine the other night at 5k miles and not a single speck of metal on the magnet....Regret wastin 4 quarts of oil....People say you spend X amount of dollars on a bike and bla bla bla...spending that kind of money doesn't mean you have money to waste...I for one live pretty frugally and can't waste money on oil or tires or bling or etc...So i save money where i can to be able to afford the little "LUXURIES" in life...I am 45 and i will enjoy life a bit while i can and HD will be part of my life as it gives me that "Je ne sais quoi" feeling...Worrying about what oil and filters and tires you put on your bike is a diversion for most of us on this forum...

i'm using Mobil1 V-Twin 20w50 oil in my engine and primary and Mobil1 75w90 synthetic gear oil in the tranny because ive used it in my last 4 Harleys and I guess I like what I know has always worked for me. I know it is more expensive than the 15w50, but I guess i'm just a creature of habit.
