Is it safe to put the iMac itself inside a balikbayan box covered with clothes?

I'm planning to buy an iMac on the U.S. because it is cheaper there. And I want to get my hands on it while i'm on vacation. Hand carrying the iMac is a hassle so i'm planning to check-in it.
