Is it safe to just toss fish into your tank after buying them?

My tank is cycled, and I have two male Platies in it. I just bought three Neon Tetras from the petshop and I put them in the tank. Should I remove them and quarantine them for a few days or will they be okay going right into the tank? The two Platies I know are healthy.
 
If they are already in the tank dont take them back out. That probably would kill them for sure. I've always heard that you're supposed to float their bag in tank water for alittle while so that they dont have a temperature shock, but they should be fine. Good Luck!
 
it would be to late now if you already put them in, i always just add my new fish to my tank, with obviously getting them used to the water first and releasing them slowly.. they should be fine i wouldnt worry

note: tetras like to be in schools of 6 or more...
