Is it safe to download music on a psp ( playstation portable)?

Is is safe to download music on a psp then transfer it onto my laptop? does this avoid the viruses or not?
Could i connect the psp to my laptop then use a bluetooth device to send it to my mobile phone avoiding viruses this way???
