Is it safe to buy cell phones from Amazon?

I am buying a new smartphone called Samsung comeback from Amazon, and I have a T mobile prepaid sim card that I will use it with. My question is: Is it safe to buy off Amazon? can the phone be opened and the seller installed on it some kind of keylogger to steal all information of the buyer and returned back to the box like its new? thanks
