Is it possible to use a rooted android device as a bluetooth dongle?

I've heard people say it's not possible and others say that there are drivers you can get to do this.

I have a rooted kindle fire and an HTC EVO 4G and would like to use either of them as a BT dongle for my laptop as I accidentally broke the wi-fi/bluetooth switch.
