Is it Possible To Install A new Head-Unit in a 2004 Mazda RX-8?

I have seen the interior of the RX-8 and it seems as if the car's radio is also part of the air conditioning as well. I have always wanted to know, since i am thinking of buying one, if the stereo could be replaced with a new head unit if i took it to a Place taht does Car Audio. WOuld i be able to install like say, a Pioneer? Or a Sony Xplod?
