Is it possible to have a positive blood test, but a negative home pregnancy test?

The reason I am asking is because I am now 25 days past ovulation and 38 days into my cycle. My cycles are normally 28-29 days. I have very sore breasts and fatigue. I did call my OB last week. They had suggested taking another home pregnancy test on Monday and if it is still negative to come in for a blood test and pelvic exam.

So, Is it possible for some women to never have a positive home pregnancy test? If so...does anyone have an real life experiences???
